Did you know that Fall is considered “laser season”? This is because laser treatments can leave your skin photosensitive – or hypersensitive to sun exposure. Therefore, it is recommended to be done in fall or winter months when daytime hours are shorter, and less time is spent outdoors. Regardless, sun protection with sunscreen and protective clothing before and after treatment is important.

Laser skin resurfacing is a proven way to help reduce wrinkles, age spots, and other blemishes as well as tighten skin and balance tone. CO2 laser is an ablative treatment used for scarring, wrinkles and deep skin flaws. The CO2 laser procedure is an ablative treatment which means that the outer layers of skin are removed. The intense heat from the laser causes just the right amount of controlled damage, removing age or sun damaged skin and encouraging healthy collagen to grow in its place. The process can be uncomfortable, and Luxe practitioners pre-treat each patient with an analgesic (pain medication) and a sedative to promote relaxation.  A 2-3 week healing process should be expected before the skin has healed completely and final results are evident. This doesn’t mean that you will be a shut-in for a month, it just means that your skin may be red, raw and have tiny scabs for a few days or weeks as it heals. You might not feel comfortable in some social situations and you will need to modify your activities to avoid situations where infection is possible.
