At Luxe Aesthetic Center, we offer an innovative injectable treatment called KYBELLA®. KYBELLA® is the first and only FDA-approved injectable drug that contours and improves the appearance for submental fullness (also known as “double chin”). Submental fullness occurs as a result of aging, genetics, and/or weight gain. It is a common problem that affects all genders and can detract from an otherwise balanced and harmonious facial appearance – leading to an older, heavier look. Luxe Aesthetic Center was among the first to offer this innovative injectable treatment.
Want to get rid of your double chin without surgery?
KYBELLA® is an individually tailored, nonsurgical injectable treatment that permanently destroys fat cells when injected under the chin for an improved profile. Multiple injections are given under the chin per treatment and take approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Up to 6 treatments may be given, at least 1 month apart. When injected into the fat beneath your chin, KYBELLA® permanently destroys fat cells. Although results are noticeable, they are not immediate. Once the fat cells are gone, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. Your body’s natural metabolism then processes the fat cleared from the treatment area. The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a natural occurring molecule in the digestive system that breaks down fat.
Results and Effects
As you may likely have swelling, we recommend keeping your social plans and work commitments in mind. The swelling generally becomes less severe and will occur less often with each following treatment. Avoiding strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment may help to reduce swelling.
In addition to swelling, you may experience redness, tenderness, bruising, or itchiness at your injection sites. These symptoms are typically mild and will resolve on their own within a few days. Sometimes serious side effects can occur including nerve injury in the jaw, which can cause an uneven smile, facial muscle weakness, or trouble swallowing. Talk to your healthcare provider to discuss any questions or concerns managing regarding potential side effects.
