When Skin Looks “Weathered,” Look a Little Closer

Patients considering CO2 fractional laser in Yorba Linda often describe their skin as weathered. A weathered appearance may involve several skin concerns, including deeper wrinkles and uneven skin texture. One is deeper wrinkles, the lines that stay visible even when the face is relaxed. The other is rough texture, an overall unevenness that makes skin look and feel less smooth. CO2 fractional laser is a more intensive resurfacing option that can help with both, but it is planned differently for each.Luxe Aesthetic Center

Problem One: Deep Wrinkles

Deep wrinkles tend to form in specific areas, such as around the mouth or eyes, after years of sun exposure and natural collagen loss. Treating them typically involves:

  • Concentrating resurfacing in the areas where lines are most etched
  • Encouraging new collagen beneath the surface to help soften lines over time
  • Planning for a recovery period that matches the intensity of treatment

Lines typically soften gradually rather than disappearing.

Problem Two: Rough Texture

Rough texture is a different problem. Instead of a few defined lines, it is an overall change in the skin’s surface, often from sun damage, enlarged pores, or uneven tone. Because it is spread across a larger area, the goal is to renew the surface more evenly rather than focus on a single spot. That changes how the laser is applied and how much of the face is treated. For many patients, smoother texture also helps skin look brighter and more even.

How CO2 Fractional Laser Adjusts for Each

Every CO2 plan at Luxe Aesthetic Center begins with a consultation, where a qualified provider reviews skin type, concerns, and medical history. From there, the laser’s intensity, depth, and coverage are adjusted to match the goal. Treatment settings and coverage may be adjusted according to the patient’s skin concerns, treatment goals, and the provider’s assessment. Patients with both concerns can have each area treated according to its needs. Learn more on the CO2 Fractional Laser page.CO2 Fractional Laser page

What to Expect During Recovery

Because CO2 fractional laser is more intensive than lighter treatments, recovery usually takes longer. Redness, swelling, and peeling are common as the skin heals, and the treated area may feel tender or tight for a period of time. The team explains what recovery will likely involve before treatment, so patients can plan around it. Some patients may notice continued changes in skin appearance over the following weeks and months as the skin heals and collagen production develops. Individual results and recovery times vary.

Caring for Skin as It Heals

Careful aftercare helps skin heal well and protects results:

  • Follow the healing routine your provider gives you, step by step
  • Let peeling skin come off on its own instead of picking at it
  • Protect new skin with a broad-spectrum sunscreen once your provider says it is time

Patience during healing is part of getting the most from treatment.

Pairing CO2 Fractional Laser With HydraFacial MD

CO2 fractional laser and HydraFacial MD address different skincare concerns. CO2 fractional laser is a resurfacing treatment that may help improve the appearance of wrinkles and uneven skin texture, while HydraFacial MD focuses on cleansing, exfoliation, and hydration. Patients interested in both treatments should consult a qualified provider to determine whether they are suitable and how they should be scheduled, particularly following laser resurfacing. Final Thought

If your skin looks weathered, the cause may be deep wrinkles, rough texture, or both. CO2 fractional laser can help with each, but the right settings and recovery plan depend on what you are actually seeing. A consultation at Luxe Aesthetic Center gives you a personalized plan and a clear understanding of the process before you begin.

Treatment suitability, recovery time, and results vary between individuals. A consultation with a qualified provider at Luxe Aesthetic Center can help determine which options may be appropriate for your needs.
